You will notice that some are labelled “bonus point eligible”. Here is a brief explanation of this and other changes
1) your best 10 races will count but there are now 16 races on the schedule.
2) bonus points will be available for PBs or your 5 year best performance at 5k, 5 miles, 10k, 10 mile, Half Marathon and Marathon distances. Rules around claiming this and declaration will be explained in the full e mail.
3) all races that are eligible for bonus points will be indicated at the schedule launch
4) there will also be an additional 10 bonus points awarded for consistent PBs across a season. The person who achieves the most PB bonus points will receive this and the new Captain’s prize at the AGM.
Changes to the schedule…
We are painfully aware that races get cancelled and we have already highlighted reserve races for many events on the schedule. We have also increased the schedule to 16 so that we could equalise Road and Trail events. Where possible, this is 50/50.
What next?
You will receive an electronic a form to complete, to detail your PBs or 5 year best performance at the eligible distances. This is optional to complete but preferable. The alternative option to claim PB bonus points is explained in the policy.
At any point, Deb and I are open to questions. The aim is to invigorate the championship and we hope you like the new format.
The full policy is attached.
In addition to this, we are pleased to
announce that on the 7th November, the club London Marathon placed draw will take place. This will happen on the night we do the food bank run, where there will be a run/walk group led by Deb.
Hope you enjoy
