EGRC Re-Run Donation

Following on from the December edition where we highlighted Re-Run clothing, this month we are pleased to announce that Emersons Green Running Club will be organising a donation of unwanted running items to Re-Run.   They accept any running gear that is still wearable even if it shows signs of wear and tear. So, this is the perfect time for a clear out of all those running t-shirts you no longer wear (or never have worn!)  Please take items to club where a collection is being made throughout March.  It will be posted to Re-Run (who will be covering the cost of the postage).  Thanks also to Hayley for organising this.

A message from Re-Run Clothing ...

ReRun is  grass roots environmental non profit company dedicated to reducing textile waste in the running community. Currently we have a clothing crisis! 300,000 tonnes of clothes end up in landfill each year in the UK (Wrap Report - Love your clothes) and less than 1% of clothes end up being recycled.
Sports clothing is made from synthetic petroleum based fibres and these garments take tens to hundreds of years to decompose. They breakdown releasing toxins into the environment in the form of dyes and microfibres. Getting dye to fix to polyester is water intensive and heavy chemicals are used in the process. This waste water is released into the ecosystem affecting plant, animal and human life in a devastating way.
We want people to.. Reduce, Repair, Reuse, Recycle and then Redesign
We want to do this with the help of the running community.  With this is mind we collect and redistribute preloved running clothes and equipment. We accept any running gear that is still wearable even if it shows signs of wear and tear. We currently have a number of streams where clothing can go:
Resale - This helps us with the running costs of ReRun but is kept deliberately affordable
Redonated -We donate to homeless charities (base layers) and Calais Refugees
We also partner with other running groups that support those in need, they can choose items from the shop free of charge.
